Manuel du Fleuriste — 2e édition
Book in French — English title: The Florist’s Manual — 2nd Edition
Second edition, revised and expanded, with numerous videos.
In this manual, one of the first of its kind and designed specifically for students preparing the CAP and BP vocational qualifications, José Afonso shares the full benefit of his experience, first as a professional who practised for many years, and then as a trainer at the École des Fleuristes de Paris, where he has guided a great many learners in this demanding, many-sided trade.
Very clear, rigorous and richly illustrated, offering a wealth of practical advice, this book follows the official CAP and BP syllabuses scrupulously and in their entirety (the official texts are summarised in an appendix), while also opening up a variety of wider perspectives and placing the subject in its cultural and historical context, thus giving a broad yet precise overview of the florist’s work.
José Afonso
A trainer at the École des Fleuristes de Paris, he trained in horticulture and holds a CAP in floristry, a BP and a BM. Deeply committed to teaching, he also runs training courses in Korea and has served on competition juries (the floral competition at the 2014 Salon de l’Agriculture).
With an extensive knowledge of the trade, he worked as a florist for some twenty years before becoming a trainer. He has also created floral designs for exhibitions and fashion shows (Carven, les Dés d’Or, etc.), given floral art demonstrations and installed decorative displays (exhibitions at the Parc Floral, the Téléthon, etc.).
He has distinguished himself in various competitions, winning in particular 1st prize at the Coupe espoir Interflora des Hauts-de-Seine in 1993 and 1st prize at the Trophée des Hauts-de-Seine in 1993.
